A New Hope
(Esperanza sings,) “A couple of coins in my pocket,
Shoes without holes and no tears in my clothes,
I’m not hungry today.
Got a job moving boxes,
And stocking shelves.
At least for now I can work, I’m OK”
Hope is lively, casts off disguises,
Hope is caring, never criticizes
Hope renews the human soul,
Hope refreshes how we see our role.
I have a new hope,
a hope that calls a different tune
Spes forte face enodatio
It is time to find solutions.
Death robs time to solve problems
We must do it before we die.
Disease must not be allowed to steal
The joy and talent of the human race.
Mediocrity finds its own level.
There is nothing mediocre about us.
We will cure the AIDS virus and
banish the suffering of its victims.
We will fight superstition and old prejudice
With new enthusiasm and the desire to win this real war!
